Here's how easy it is:
- Be well informed: get
your facts straight regarding the issues at hand through requesting and reviewing school resources, the information
provided by PURE Pioneers on our website and regular updates, and researching the issues on your own
-
Be Specific: state the specific issue that concerns you
-
Be Polite: you should
be firm, but courteous. Anger and sarcasm will not win any points with your reader
-
Be Original: letters written or calls made from your own personal experience and
opinion are the most effective
-
Make Letters Easy to Read: emails and typed letters are best, but handwritten letters are acceptable. Write as neatly as possible
-
Ask For an Answer: on most occasions you’ll
be surprised how fast you’ll get a letter or call back! Ask them to state his/her views on an issue, and ask
how he/she intends to act
-
Be Brief: cover
only one topic and try to keep your letter to only one page and your call straight and to the point
-
Write / Call While the Issue is Hot:
timing is everything, don't delay!
-
Say Thanks: it’s
important to let them know you would appreciate a favorable
action, yet also include that you are thankful for their time in hearing your concerns
